Vehicle Status Report

Vehicle Status Report is an iPhone and iPod touch (with camera) app that can assist to easily generate pdf status/condition reports for vehicles.

For years the automotive industry was using a notepad and a camera to write down the all the details and remarks of a vehicle. The data collected had to be transferred to a computer and using a word processor or a template a report was generated manually. The above process was never fully completed or documented properly, so finding a report that was done last month was a very long process.

Vehicle Status Report has come to change that. With the release of the iPhone 4 and then 4s the quality of the pictures the device can take is equivalent (if not better) than most compact cameras can take and definitely fulfills the requirements of a status report. Now notes and pictures can be taken using one device. No notepad, camera, looking through the files of a memory stick or word processing is required. Everything is done on the spot using only one device, even the pdf report generation and sending the report via email.

All data are stored on the device and can be exported through email. PDF Report has three compression settings, so the file generated can be easily send through a 3g connection.

Vehicle Search Screen

This screen provides a list of all vehicles stored in the app and a brief description of each vehicle, together with a timestamp and the location it was created (location is taken dynamically from your device GPS). Vehicles can be sorted by name, creation date or modification date.


Search can be restricted to vehicles generated last week or last month, so it is easier to find recently created vehicles. On the search field any text can be entered and the relevant vehicles will appear. Using the '+' button a new vehicle can be created. And finally using the map button vehicle can be search using the place where they were created.

Vehicle Screens

For fast data entry keyboard, keypad or scrollers are used depending on the type of input, a great time saver and minimizing input errors. Once vehicle data are complete, the "Add Status Report" button can be used to fill out a status report for this vehicle.

Report Search Screen

Similar to the Vehicle Search Screen, but this one provides information about the status reports stored. Each vehicle can have more than one status report, as the condition of the vehicle might change with time.

 Status Report Screens

 Similar to vehicle section, but the status report section contains information on the condition of the vehicle. It has three main sections:

• Document section. Various documents of the vehicle can be scanned using the camera and filed.
• Photo section. Pictures of the vehicle can be taken. Each photo has a type that states with part of the vehicle is on it.
• Remarks section. For each remark the part of the vehicle is stated, the type of damage and a picture.

All sections provide a note field, where the user input a note. A nice wizard provides fast entry:

PDF Generation

Once all details for the report are stored in the app, then with just a touch of a button a pdf report is generated. The pdf report can then be email, using the native email client of you device, by tapping the email button.
